Musical History Course
1890 to 1915 Romanticisms Slow
Coda and the Birth of Modernism
Course given by Fred Kronacher. The class will
focus on the great diversity of styles and composers working during this
twenty-five year period. From the late romanticism of Rachmaninoff and Puccini
to the modernism of Bartok and Stravinsky, from late Brahms and Verdi to
Debussy, Mahler and Prokofiev, this era produced an explosion of creativity and
artistic expression. Classes run approximately an hour and a half and meet once
a month. The fee for the classes will be $60.
