Catherine Treadgold Mezzo
Soprano
"A Celebration of Schumann" will be Catherine Treadgold's eighth appearance with Musical Experiences.
Born and raised in Seattle, mezzo soprano Catherine Treadgold began her career in New York City performing in musical theater, opera and oratorio. Upon returning to the West Coast, she has continued to work in all three genres, starring as Edwin Drood in The Mystery of Edwin Drood in Olympia, touring for several seasons with Northwest Opera in Schools, Etc. (NOISE), acting as both lecturer and soloist for Seattle Opera previews, and performing with Bellevue Opera, the Early Music Guild, Orchestra Seattle, Masterworks Choral Ensemble, and Pacific Northwest Chamber Chorus.
Favorite operatic roles include Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, Giulio Cesare in Handel’s Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Florence Pike in Britten’s Albert Herring, and Cherubino in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. A former winner of the UW’s Brechemin Scholarship and the Ladies’ Musical Club competition, Ms. Treadgold has a BA Cum Laude from Princeton University and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Washington. She is a member of Actors’ Equity, a performing member of the Ladies Musical Club (LMC), and a certified stage fighter.
Catherine currently teaches private voice in Ballard. For the past two years she has served on the faculty of the 5th Avenue's Summer Musical Theatre Camp. From 2001-2006 she was an adjunct professor at Shoreline Community College.
Catherine performs frequently in art song recitals sponsored by LMC and sings throughout Washington State with voice/guitar duo Cat & Jeff (catandjeff.com). Cat & Jeff's varied repertoire includes Elizabethan lute songs, arias, and art songs as well as musical theatre hits, French cabaret songs, and jazz standards.
